She urged citizens to “wake up and fight corruption with an iron hand,” describing it as the root cause of persistent failures in public institutions.

“Ugandans, we need to wake up and fight corruption decisively. All the leakages, the problems and wastage we see are a result of corruption,” she said.

Nameere praised Gen. Kainerugaba for consistently speaking out against corruption, saying his public statements have helped draw attention to the issue across different platforms.

“We thank the General for being vocal and using his platforms to speak against corruption. He has challenged leaders, including Members of Parliament, to take the lead in fighting it,” she noted.

She stressed that leaders in public office, particularly legislators, have a critical role to play in addressing corruption through oversight and accountability.

Nameere linked corruption to the deteriorating state of public services, especially in the health sector, citing concerns over access to quality healthcare.

“Many of our regional hospitals are not functioning as they should, and people are forced to seek care in smaller facilities. This is something we must take seriously,” she said.

The MP-elect said the upcoming run is not only a celebratory event but also an opportunity to rally citizens around national causes, including the fight against corruption and support for vulnerable communities.

“We are coming together for a cause — to support our people and also to speak about the issues affecting our country,” she said.

The birthday run, which has attracted participation from across the country, is expected to mobilise thousands and raise awareness on key social and national issues.

Nameere urged Ugandans to use such platforms to promote unity, accountability, and collective responsibility in addressing the country’s challenges.
